Meet the crew

Meet Miso. Our big, lazy, food-driven boy and official Head of Comfort Testing. Miso has exactly two settings: napping and asking for snacks. His testing method is simple: lie on the new thing, fall asleep on the new thing, refuse to get off the new thing (unless someone opens a treat bag). If it's soft, warm or shaped like a box, Miso has already claimed it.

Meet Makuro. The smartest one in the house, and she knows it. Makuro observes. Makuro judges. Makuro approves (sometimes). She watches every new gadget from a safe distance until she's worked out exactly how it works, then delivers her verdict with one slow blink.

And now… meet Mugi. The newest member of the crew. Flat face, giant copper eyes, an orange-and-white floof coat and a tail like a feather duster, attached to a cat with absolutely no off switch. Mugi is our Head of Stress Testing (and self-appointed Chief Zoomies Officer): he attacks, chases and wrestles every new toy, usually at 3am, usually at full speed. If a toy survives Mugi, it's tough.

Why does this store exist?

Because the internet is full of extremely dumb (and extremely great) cat stuff, and somebody has to try it. So we buy it, Miso, Makuro and Mugi put it through some very unscientific testing, and only the stuff that survives makes it onto the shelf.

How it works

Napped on by Miso. The comfort (and snack) tester. If Miso won't nap on it, we're suspicious.
Approved by Makuro. (Sometimes...) If Makuro watches it for a full week and still isn't impressed, it's out. She's never wrong.
Destroyed by Mugi. (Or at least attempted.) The stress tester. Mugi chases it, pounces on it and body-slams it at 3am. If it survives Mugi, it's tough.
